 OUR SERVICES - FAQ's

“We are finding the majority of stove problems are fuel related. While it is tempting to buy discounted pellets or “big box” pellets, be wary as it can cost you much more in the end!”...Jim Fallon, owner

Most frequently asked questions:

  • My stove does not light
    1) Make sure the burn pot is clear of all carbon.-scrape burn pot thoroughly, including side of burn pot & as deep as possible.
    2) Make sure underneath the burn pot where the igniter element is located is clean. Remove wing nuts & gently remove debris inside trap.
    3) Make sure the holes are poked out on top of burn pot with an alan wrench or similar tool.
    4) If steps 1-3 are done and stove does not light please contact Home and Hearth

  • Stove has a “squealing” sound when feeding.
    1) Carbon build up at the tip of the auger is the usual cause of this issue. With stove off, use a flat head screw driver to remove any carbon between the position of 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock.
    2) If squealing continues, please contact Home and Hearth

  • Stove auger is turning, no pellets feeding
    1) Remove all pellets from hopper. Inspect the bottom of the hopper for a blockage. Common discoveries are wet pellets, paper towels, watches, bracelets, toys, etc
    2) Look at the length of the pellets you are using. Long pellets will cause a “bridge” in the bottom of the hopper” so other pellets will not be allowed to pass through..
    3) If steps above are taken and still have issue, please contact Home and Hearth

  • Stove status light is blinking
    1) First figure out how many times it is blinking, it is a code to help you diagnose the situation
        (a) Blinking twice (2): the stove may have a micro switch that is not closing or the sawdust compartment in the back of the stove may be full and needs to be vacuumed out
        (b) Blinking Three (3) times: Could be as easy as a manual reset, unplug the stove for about five minutes then plug back in. If blinking returns then clean the probe and all the exhaust making sure the stove is breathing right. Last if all previous has been preformed ESPprobe may be bad and need to be replaced.
        (c) Blinking four (4) times: Room sensor on the back of stove may be loose or not plugged in. Make sure probe is in good condition and plugged in properly
        (d) Blinking five (5) times: Stove did not light in auto-mode within 36 minutes. Stove may be dirty and needs a good cleaning.
        (e) Blinking six (6) times: Stove has sensed that the draft is blocked somewhere on the stove. This means a thorough cleaning or there is a block in the exhaust pipe.

  • My Accentra Insert is only heating on one side of the stove?
    (a) This can occur because the left exhaust tube on the stove is plugged and the stove is not breathing correctly., With the flue brush provided make sure to get the brush all the way thru. That will be the entire length of the brush, you made need to use pliers to give it a extra push.
