Measured to Your Opening

Stoll Fireplace Doors, Measured & Installed

Doors turn an open fireplace back into a warm one: the chimney draft stops when the fire's out, the sparks stay on the hearth side of the glass, and the opening finally looks finished. Every Stoll door is built to your opening, so we measure it on the free in-home visit.

The Honest Math

Why an Open Fireplace Needs Doors

An open fireplace is a hole in the house. While the fire burns it pulls room air up the flue, and after it dies the draft keeps going all night, dragging the furnace's heat out with it. A closed set of doors ends that: the damper can stay open for the smoldering coals while the room keeps its warmth.

Doors also keep sparks and rolling logs on the hearth, and they finish the opening the way a frame finishes a picture. If you'd rather turn the fireplace into a real heater, an insert does that; we'll tell you honestly which one your fireplace wants.

Stoll is the door line we carry: made in the USA, built to your opening, finished the way you pick, and installed by the same crew that installs our fireplaces. Lineups and finishes change; the current catalog is at the showroom.

From the Open Fireplace to the Finished Hearth

3 Steps to a Finished Fireplace

1

Pick the Door

Filter the wall by style, fireplace type, or size, pick the door that fits the room, and book the appointment from the door itself.

2

Measure on the Free Visit

We come out, measure the opening, and go through the finishes and the mesh with you. You never measure a thing, and the door arrives fitting the first time.

3

Install by Our Crew

Stoll builds the door to the inch; our own crew sets it and shows you how the doors and the mesh work with a fire going.

From the Showroom Floor

"I purchased a Harman 43 pellet stove and the showroom staff was inviting, friendly and knowledgeable. Kudos to Matt and Brian who installed the unit. They arrived as scheduled, were professional, neat and clean, and gave a clear overview on how to use the stove. Job well done!!"

Common Questions About Fireplace Doors

Plain answers from the showroom.

Get Instant Estimate
Why add doors to an open fireplace?
An open fireplace pulls the room's warm air up the chimney all night after the fire dies. Closed doors stop that draft, keep sparks on the hearth side of the glass, and finish the opening.
Do I have to measure the opening myself?
No. Every Stoll door is built to the opening, so we measure it on the free in-home visit and the door arrives fitting the first time.
How long does a door take?
Doors are built to order, so allow several weeks from the measurement to the installation. We'll give you the current lead time when we measure.
Can I leave the doors closed while the fire burns?
Follow the door's instructions: most are meant to burn open with the mesh screen closed, then close once the fire is down. We walk you through it at the installation.
