The Quadrafire: 3100 Millennium Wood Stove, from the Wood Stoves wall at Fallon's Home & Hearth From the Wood Stoves Wall

Why a Wood Stove

Heat That Doesn't Care What the Grid Is Doing

A wood stove is independence. When the power goes out in a February nor'easter, it keeps the house warm on a few armloads of wood—no electricity, no delivery truck, no fuel bill that moves with the news. Modern stoves burn clean and long; a Vermont Castings or Quadra-Fire loaded at night still has coals in the morning.

We carry Vermont Castings for the classic cast-iron look, Quadra-Fire for steel stoves that work hard for the money, and Stûv for the modern, glass-front designs you see in architecture magazines—plus DS Stoves, which you'll want to see burning in the showroom. Every one is set on the right hearth pad, vented with the right class-A chimney, and lit by our crew.

Get an instant installed estimate on the stove you like, then we'll walk the room and the roofline at a free in-home visit to confirm the clearances and the chimney route.

What You Get

Why Customers Choose Wood Stoves

Heat With the Power Out

No electricity, no gas line—just wood and a match.

Overnight Burns on One Load

Modern secondary-burn stoves hold a fire eight hours and more on a full load.

Cord Wood, the Cheapest BTU in New England

Cord wood is still the least expensive BTU around, especially if you cut your own.

Cast Iron, Steel, or Modern Glass

Vermont Castings, Quadra-Fire, and Stûv—three very different looks, one installer.

From a Wood Insert Install

"We used Fallon's twice this year, once to install a pellet stove and most recently a wood-burning insert. We are so happy with the product and the service was great. Thanks to Harry for helping us pick the right stoves & to Josh and Matt for the install!"

Common Questions About Wood Stoves

Plain answers from the showroom, and the estimate on every unit above.

Get Instant Estimate
Do I need a chimney?
A wood stove needs a chimney, but it doesn't have to be masonry: we install class-A stainless chimney systems through the roof or up an outside wall. We plan the route at the in-home visit.
How far from the wall does it need to sit?
Every stove has its own clearances, and heat shields can shrink them. We set the stove to the manufacturer's numbers and the code so the inspection is easy.
Can I heat the whole house with a wood stove?
Many Seacoast homes do. It depends on the layout and where the stove sits; an open plan or a central location carries heat farther. We'll tell you honestly at the visit.
What's a secondary-burn stove?
The stoves we sell re-burn the smoke before it leaves—more heat from the same wood, less creosote in the chimney, and less smoke out the top.
