An open masonry fireplace looks the part and sends most of its heat up the flue. A pellet insert slides into that same opening, seals it, and returns it as thermostat-controlled heat—the Harman Accentra and Quadra-Fire inserts we install routinely carry the main living area of a Seacoast home through February.
The insert uses your existing chimney for its vent liner, so the project is usually a day. You keep the hearth and the mantel; we add a surround that fits the opening and finish the wall. Pellets by the ton are delivered to your town, and the annual service keeps the blower and the auger running like new.
